The controversial experiment in how racism informs male sexual desire continues. Again, these are actual responses to personal ads I posted on craigslist. I only fixed spelling and grammatical errors that made a reply extremely difficult to read.
What do you think of Indian girls? (Asked in D.C.)

- Huh, a good question. My general impression of Indian girls? Intelligent and sexy -- at least, I find intelligence attractive in a sexual manner, hence they go together for me. But also, I find Indian women traditional, family-oriented, and generally having a good head on their shoulders. Certainly, I think Indian women often place a very high value on education. This jives with my Jewish background, where we also place a high premium on education. [I think he meant "jibes." I love how this guy tries to sound smart while suggesting that some races go well together.]

A Little Experiment: Part 1
The other day I was thinking about how disturbing it is that so many American men are "into" Asian girls. I was forced to ruminate on this seriously unpleasant topic when my mother-in-law told me a story about a raver kid who has been hanging around her house lately. And by "kid" I mean an adult male in his mid-20s who acts like a teenager with ADD. He's apparently friends with my husband's brother. One day, in an attempt to make conversation with the guy, my mother-in-law asked him whether he ever wanted to have kids. He replied that he was hoping to find "some Asian chick" that he could just "bang and bang and bang all day."
- Gross. Why would anyone ever say that?
- Why the hell would anyone ever say that to my mother-in-law?!
Obviously, he's had a few too many hallucinogens. But the guy definitely isn't alone in his unapologetic and deeply icky lust for the Asian ladies. With this in mind, I decided to execute an extremely unscientific sociological experiment to see what American men think about women from particular foreign countries. Get ready for a powerful cocktail of sexism, racism, and stupidity.
Hypothesis: Um, American men like Asian girls? I expected a variety of responses but that certain racial stereotypes would dominate the men's replies.
Method: I posted advertisements in the craigslist personals of several different major American cities. In each ad, I posed as a woman from a foreign country who was new to the United States. All the ads included the phrase, "What do you think about girls from ______?"

Pimp My Ride Japanese-Style
This is how they pimp their rides in Japan:
I don't really like Disney, but I love the fact that cuteness is such an important part of teenage rebellion in Japan. Can you imagine thug culture in the US (which is essentially a teenage rebellion) adopting Hello Kitty as their mascot? Stuff that our society views as girlish, and therefore weak, is actually embraced as being subversive among Japanese youth. Back in the 1970s when the whole kawaii subculture started to develop, it truly was a rebellion. But it wasn't just any rebellion: it was fueled by adolescent girls. (I've written more extensively on the subject here.) And just like with subcultures in the US, kawaii culture was eventually co-opted and brought into the mainstream, and thereby robbed of its adorable little teeth. There's a lot of money to be made in selling the spirit of rebellion. (Hot Topic is basically a subculture co-opting machine in the US.) But it's still got that crucial whiff of rebellion, which is what makes it so damn fashionable.

Hottiedots! Part 2
I finally got my Hottiedots! The creator of Hottiedots! sent me a bunch of free samples after she saw my post about them. Now I'm suddenly in birthmark heaven. And I mean that quite literally. I decided to arrange my new birthmarks in patterns based on constellations in order to look more alluring and more intelligent. Here are the mugshots to prove it:
