Back in ABQ
Noah and I are back in sunny Albuquerque. We arrived at the Albuquerque Sunport on Sunday afternoon and were quickly reminded that we were no longer in New York: we walked over to the bus stop only to discover that there's no bus service whatsoever from the airport on Sundays. Growl. At least it was sunny and dry though. By the time we left NYC/Philly, it was cloudy and horribly muggy. It was nice to get back and go for a dip in the pool and soak my exhausted body in the hot tub for a while. I'm still recuperating from the trip. I got a nasty cold towards the end and pulled my Achilles. I feel like an old lady.

We didn't do too much touristy stuff and we didn't have a guidebook. Our NYC strategy was pretty much to just get on the subway and get off somewhere. We bought MetroCards with unlimited rides for seven days. The subway is the utopia of public transportation. I love that you can just slip down below the street and shoot off to another part of the city. It allowed us to see a great deal of New York. Every city should have one. Noah describes it as being like Super Mario. It totally is! They should play the underground Super Mario music in the subway tunnels.
These pictures were taken on the Brooklyn Bridge, which was one of the few touristy things we did.

Leaving for NYC and Philly
I'm leaving for NYC tomorrow morning. Yay! So long, sucktown!
We're gonna spend about half our time in NYC and half in Philly. I'll start posting again in a couple of weeks.
I think this is a good WTF note to leave on.

Why the Hell Not?
Why can't champagne come in two-liter bottles? Champagne is way too delicious to come in such tiny bottles. They put cheap wine in big jugs and boxes; how come they can't put cheap champagne in a two-liter? Pure snobbery, I tell you!
I don't mean to boast, but I am something of a connoisseur of cheap ass champagne and Cristalino is one of the best. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it here in ABQ. I must make do with Korbel or Domaine Ste. Michelle, both of which are totally sufficient at around $10 per serving bottle.

The Sanitary Tortilla Factory
I ride my bike past this place every day:
It confuses me.
Um, what the hell is a "sanitary tortilla"? Is it like a sanitary napkin? Are you supposed to use it like a maxi pad? I can't imagine it would be very absorbent, but it would definitely be eco-friendly. You could just slap a tortilla into your underpants and then feed it to the dog. No waste! Dogs love period blood. Every woman who has ever lived with a dog has a truly revolting story about the dog getting into the wastebasket and finding a used pad to snack on. So you'd be saving the environment and providing your dog with a delicious treat! Everybody wins!
(Do you think wonder bread tampons would work?)
I think the Sanitary Tortilla Factory might actually be a restaurant. If so:
- It's not very inviting with all the barbed wire and the bars on the windows. It looks like the kind of place you'd go for a sexual assault, not for a tasty taco platter. Come for the rape, stay for the enchiladas!
- I guess it's a better name for a restaurant than the Unsanitary Tortilla Factory.
I think I might have to try this place out someday.

Forgotten Photo from SF
I just realized I'd forgotten to post this picture from our SF trip:
This was taken close to the Golden Gate Bridge. Brian and I were stupidly delighted by the pelicans overhead. I wanna go back to SF. Too bad I'm stuck in sucktown. Thankfully, Noah and I will be getting the bejesus out of here for about ten days. We're leaving for New York and Philadelphia on Friday. Yay!
